JoSAA 2026 Round 5 seat allocation and PAF deadline

JoSAA 2026 has entered an important phase for JEE Advanced-qualified students. The latest official update says Round 5 seat allocation is now live, and candidates with a provisionally allocated seat in the NIT+ system must complete the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) payment within the given window.

According to the JoSAA portal, the PAF had to be paid from July 22, 2026 (10:00 AM) to July 24, 2026 (05:00 PM). JoSAA also warns that if a candidate does not pay the PAF on time, the offered seat will be treated as rejected. That makes this one of the most urgent counselling deadlines right now for students who are still in the admission process.

The official notice also says that physical reporting at the allotted institute for candidates under the NIT+ system, who have paid PAF and are not participating in CSAB 2026 Special Rounds or DASA 2026 (UG), will take place from August 13 to 18, 2026. For many students, this is the next key date after seat acceptance, because it decides whether the allotted seat is fully secured.

This update matters because JoSAA counselling is the main admission route for IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and several GFTIs. Students who are tracking their admission status should check whether they have received a seat in Round 5, whether the fee payment is complete, and whether they need to prepare for reporting or wait for the next counselling stage.
