Always work from the current official syllabus rather than older guides. Each subject page on this site maps the syllabus chapter by chapter, with weightage signals from the PYQ archive.

One syllabus, two exams, different weight
JEE Main's syllabus is published by NTA with the information bulletin; JEE Advanced publishes its own syllabus on jeeadv.ac.in. They overlap heavily but are not identical — Advanced omits some Main topics and states others at greater depth, and it was formally revised in recent years. Preparing "for JEE" without checking both documents leaves either exam under-served.
The subject pages here follow the current chapter structure for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Where a topic is Main-only or Advanced-only, the official syllabi are the tiebreaker.
Class 12 boards still matter: Admission through JoSAA requires a Class 12 eligibility condition (a minimum percentage or category top-percentile rule) alongside your JEE rank. Confirm the current condition in the JoSAA business rules for your admission year rather than assuming last cycle's.

Has the JEE Main syllabus changed recently?
Yes. NTA revised the JEE Main syllabus, reducing topics in several subjects. Always download the current information bulletin from jeemain.nta.nic.in at the start of your preparation cycle to work from the live syllabus. The JEE Advanced syllabus is published separately on jeeadv.ac.in.
Is the JEE Advanced syllabus the same as JEE Main?
No. JEE Advanced has its own syllabus, which is generally broader and deeper than JEE Main. Confirm both on their respective official portals and prepare the union of both if you are targeting IITs.
